Stroudsburg United Stars U-12 Girls Soccer Poem
By Noelle Kehoe
This is a poem about our U-12 Girls team,
A GREAT group of players, where some liked to scream.
The club gave me a team with only just six,
I recruited more players for a wonderful mix.
The girls advanced their skills and jelled together,
And now they’re good friends, like birds of a feather.
I’m proud of these girls for their commitment to soccer,
They wanted to practice and play, it was never a shocker.
In November, CDL was given new lights,
We played and we played, and soared to new heights.
They’d come to training in weather so cold,
And they’d say, “We love soccer,” is what I was told.
These AWESOME gals always worked very hard,
They’d be up for a game in anyone’s yard.
Their energy and spirit was truly a gift,
Regardless of score, their enthusiasm did lift.
Our girls helped the team in various ways,
Their talents are different, which helped on game days.
Each player contributed in her own special way,
And here is a list of how each player did play…
Kelly was smart and quick on her feet,
She’d race to the ball and new how to compete.
Samantha could play on the field anywhere,
With her powerful kicks, the ball had wings you would swear.
Shannon always strived for her absolute best,
Goalie or field, perfection was her quest.
Alyssa had footwork and could move very fast,
She’d get through opponents and blow right on past.
Brooke was aggressive; it’s the ball she’d attack,
She knew to use angles and would quickly get back.
Patricia anticipated and shielded so well,
Her tactical sense was her strength you could tell.
Eva played big, as if her height was six feet,
Watching her play with aggression was always a treat.
Elizabeth blossomed and became very strong,
She kept the ball from opponents, it didn’t take long.
Kelli was stellar and had lots of great heart,
And even when injured, her support played a part.
Bethany looked and could always find space,
She’d find the right spot and new that was her place.
Erin, so positive and ready to play,
“Coach, I’m ready to go”, on the sideline she’d say.
Maddie was tough and always fought hard,
She used great control to avoid getting a card.
Corrine was tenacious and never afraid,
She always was strong wherever she played.
Melanie had courage and improved her school grades,
Her skills have come far, I’m so thankful she stayed.
Breanna came to us with strength, speed and skill,
We had expectations that she sure did fulfill.
Will and Barb provided so much support,
It’s no wonder our players love this really great sport.
Our Soccer Families were there on every occasion,
Meetings or trainings, there was no persuasion.
As for me, I am grateful and thankful for this great coaching chance,
I love this fine group and know our team experience will enhance.
As we wind down the season and draw towards an end,
We’ve all been blessed by a new soccer friend.
Now that it’s summer, you might hike on a trail,
But remember to check for a soccer email.
This poem is over, I can’t think of a rhyme,
There is practice on Wednesday, so please be on time.
